Can Beijing fight air polution better?

Recently, the city of Beijing in China has found that they have dangerously high levels of air pollutants in the sky. Most of this problem is due to the fact that China has been trying extremely hard to reach its goal of being a super nation. Luckily, they've realized that they need to cut back on way they use their resources. The government has decided that they will force about a third of the cities cars to be not used and the burning of fuels will be cut down by half of the current use.

So my question is "Do you think we as a country should try and help China achieve this goal?” And "Do you think that the damage is already done and their cities are too plagued by pollution?
What else can China do to reduce this problem now and prevent it from happening again?
Are these levels of air pollutants affecting other organisms other than humans?
Will the USA ever get to this point in any of it's large cities?

  1. though after time i think that china's polution could effect us and the world in the long run, i also beleave that china has a responsability to clean up its own mess and so i think we shuold leave them to deal with it. Polution can seem like a permenent thing but i beleave that the effects of polution can be fixed iether through human interaction or just by humans steping away from the enviorment and letting it fix itself.
